December 2014

This week was insane. We went to the port on tuesday for Lidership Councel and then we had Multi-zone confrence on thursday. ah. Lots of things.

Something super important that I have been learning is that parable, that the blind that can´t lead the blind or they will fall into a ditch. (I think it is Luke 6;39) In order to teach something, you have to be living it. That is what Christ did. We are learning to be better at teaching by using the scripture, and it has been a lot of work, seriously.   If you know me you know how bad my memory is, but I am working on it.

We had a really touching expierence on Saturday. A sister in the ward, a convert of about a year, has been a great friend to us. She is probably in like her 60s, and her dad was living with her. This week, he went down hill fast. They were in the hospital a lot, but finally they let him do home, to pass away in peace. She invited us over to sing some hymns because all that were in the house were going to stay up and spend his last minutes together. he was not responsive, and his breaths were getting farther and farther apart. We sang "Abide with me" and a few others, and shared a little more about the plan of salvation and then we had to go because it was late. After we left they sent us a text that he passed a few short minutes after we sang the last song.

I know that God has a plan for us. That just as he lives again, we will. That we, by obedience, will be able to spend forever with the ones we love. All thanks to a loving Savior.

Well, my companion only has 2 weeks left in her mission, but they are switching her! I am going to be with Hermana Dearden! I have met her a couple times and she is great. She is also from the US so we are back to that haha. I have only been in this area for 5 weeks so this is going to be fun to lead. Things have been going so fast lately, it is insane.

Dont have much time but I love you all and hope your are well.

Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas! not going to lie, it is weird here in the mission, but I am happy to be in the service of the one who made my life, repentance and ressurection possible. The real reason for the season.

I am here with my new companion Hermana Dearden, she is awesome and I love her to death and am so happy to be working with her.

Somthing that I have noticed about my emails is that I write less and less. It has a lot to do with the inner battle of if my spiritual expierences are helping anyone out there or just being thrown out into the digital world, but it also has much to do with time and business, just like all of us who are out serving. But I decided that I will share something that happened.

Yesterday in church, I thought they would have some kind of miraculous service for christmas and all that, but it was very sincere. They actually talked about missionary work. The ward mission leader talked about how important it really is to share this message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ because he is our Savior. But what really called my attention was the Bishops talk. Bishop Mendoza shared an expierence about how in his mission there was a family that was progressing and compleating with everything and excited, but then some of there loved ones shared anti-mormon stuff and they all of the sudden wouldnt have anything to do with any of it.
I was shocked that he shared this but then he shared the scripture when Joseph Smith was in liberty jail. dont have time again, but basically that we dont need to be worried even in moments of discouragement.

Don't worry, I am not depressed, just dont have time to make this tie together better, haha. It was really spiritual ok.Another reason why I dont share much, it is hard to put together fasthaha.

      Mis queridos amigos y familiares,

Love you all so much and want to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS. Christmas in the mission is great because you seriously remember Christ. We had an amazing time working in the Lords work and finding the people that He has ready for the gospel.

On Christmas Eve, we were a little skeptical about how this was all going to go down, and a little discouraged because they said that if a family invited us to dinner, we could go. But no one invited us beacuse they all had plans. We were sure that we would just be walking around looking for people all day. So we made some plans to pretty much visit everyone that we could think of. All of the contacts and referrals and then try to teach whoever would let us. And then, it was raining and cold. But we put a bunch of cards in our pockets and went out determined to give it our all. Wow, it was amazing day! We met some amazing people, I dont think there was anyone who didnt let us in! Including we met someone who had met missionaries before in a gracery store, and they had given him a Book of Mormon and the direction to the church, but they hadnt given him the hours of the services! He told us he had passed by, but it was always locked. He said he loved the Book of Mormon and believed that a Restoration was what the world needed. When we went back and told him about Joseph Smith and the the true church of Jesus Christ exists on the earth, he was crazy excited and TOLD US that this fulfilled the scripture about the stick of Judah and the stick of Joseph. He has not been taught by missionaries before, just super prepared by God. His name is Blas, and we are now teaching him and he is doing so well.

My companion and I are super good friends and I am so glad that she is so awesome. She is really just as weird as I am, which is nice, haha.

On sunday, I got a huge surprise. Remeber Nora, that I taught back in Nogales? She came to visit me! She is so nice! She wrote me a little letter that talks about how she is preparing to go on a mission in a year! I am so happy for her and she love the gospel. I really know that Gods plan is real, because I never would have met these people any other way. We were meant to meet. I am greatful that God called me to this work and that I responded. Even though it is hard sometimes, it really is so worth it. I cannot explain how happy I was to see her in that church, imagine how happy we will all be to see eachother in heaven. It doesnt matter what we have to go through, we have to make it there. To recieve eternal happiness, with those that we love. We can, if we trust in Christ and rely on His Atonement.

I love you and invite you to respond to whatever work the Lord calls you to do. He really has blessings in store that you cannot imagine.
